An ODD Christmas...amended

Went to Boise in a really really quick trip to see our son Kyle's family off. They are on their way to Indy and we will miss them.  Travis and Monica made it as well as Danny and Nikki, and Kelly!  Sure seems strange.... ( I'll square up that picture...sometime...oh...got it!  Sitting sideways kinda fit the day though...)

We drove Christmas Eve about halfway down, (after I got off work) and got up early to go the rest of the way.  We couldn't take much of their time as they were loading a truck the next day.  So we had lunch at Denny's and said goodbye.    Drove back home and got here about midnight.  Had been sick and slept the next 36 hrs stright.  (doing better now).

Didn't ever get around to Christmas Tree, Christmas Cards, or Christmas gifts.  Not even Christmas cookies.   Just was odd all the way around, not soon forgotten

???

It's clear - we need more Black Fridays.
So, we were open from 8:00pm on Thanksgiving evening straight though until close on Black Friday...
Will we soon be talking about Black Thursday instead of Thanksgiving?

beans!

I can't believe how many people have come to my blogspot to get the infamous green bean casserole recipe...isn't that like trying to find a recipe for making jello?

 Or Koolaid?
I added the infamous french green bean recipe back when I did a segment on "Mormon Recipes", and did so with the intent that lds people would share my amusement, and non-lds would have a window into the culture I grew up in.
Still, there is no better comfort food in the world than "funeral potatoes" and I've sampled alot of stuff in my 6 decades!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
May you give thanks with an appreciative heart!

Henry's Highlights

Went to spend a long weekend at Henry's Lake in the general vacinity of Island Park/West Yellowstone.  We were staying at a big beautiful Cabin in Kevins family (had a view of the Grand Tetons)
Tyrel and Mandy (my niece) came to spend an evening with us.  Was a treat to see them again.
Toots brought projects to work on so I divided my time between fishing, sewing and trying to enjoy the little guys.  They call me Grandma Jan....that's cool.  They call Norm 'Grandpa Jan'...that's even cooler!!
Trey lives to play with the iphone.
Warm Fire

Kelly was knockin' 'em dead!!
Danny helping me.
There ya go!
Nikki (Monique) becoming a great fisherman.
It was so pretty, and peaceful and the fishing was really good, weather not bad.

Cody's first time fishing (4 years old).

Look at that!

Uncle Danny helping.

Nikki and Destiny
Grandpa Jan and Cody

He had a hard time 'horsing' the reel, so he just headed up the bank dragging it out of the water!
My niece Mandy---pregnant with "Thing 1 and Thing 2" aka Tyson (Tyrel's son) and Mason (Mandy's son)...Is that a great idea or what?!

We had a wonderful time!!
Wish you were there!

My New & Amazing Friend, Heather

Friends and Family...I have the good fortune of having met an amazing woman, Heather, by way of my Blog.  Her story is as inspiring as it is amazing, and ask you all to link with her and add her to your prayers.  What a small but incredible world we live in!

Grey and I

Grey and I trying to stay warm at a football game, it was late, under the lights (thus the shadow that makes me look like I'm missing teeth, errrr)
it was cold, wind blowing out there on the prairie, and later....
Grey was getting really tired.  He had a sucker and decided to sit on the ground with it under my blanket so it was like a teepee around him.
Suddenly he did an unexpected face-plant.  He fell asleep sitting in there ...and lay there crying into the grass!  awwww, so sad!  Life is hard for the little ones.

Grey is growing too big for his infant blanket I made for him so Julie and I tied a fleece blanket for him in "Choo-Choo" (Thomas) and Spiderman.  He wassoooo excited for it!!

This is a dolly blanket I made for Harley when she was little (also made one for CJ, hmmmm, I owe Emily).  Actually quilted...love it.  I've totally gone 'grandma'!!
